Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum
Cambridge Lower Secondary offers a flexible curriculum framework for each subject to suit the students’ needs. The subjects offered for all students are English, Malay, the Sciences, Mathematics, and ICT; the student may choose either Business Studies or Global Perspectives as the sixth subject. Mandarin and Tamil languages are also available to augment the pupil’s language skills. EDU Dynamics Academy uses the integrated assessment method to monitor each learners’ progress. The curriculum framework is designed to engage learners in an active and creative learning journey.
Cambridge English enables learners to communicate confidently and effectively and to develop the skills to respond to a range of information, media and texts with understanding and enjoyment. Learners develop a language competency to be successful in cross cultural communication.
Cambridge Malay is designed for learners who are learning Malay as a foreign language. At EDU Dynamics Academy the aim is to develop an ability to use the language effectively for practical communication as well as conform to the Malaysian academic requirements. Elements of KSSM Bahasa Malaysia are included so that the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing are built on as learners progress through their studies.
The approach at EDU Dynamics Academy explores six content areas namely numbers, algebra, geometry, measurements, handling data and problem solving. all underpinned by, which provides a structure. Mental strategies on the application of mathematical skills are an important part of problem solving. The focus is on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships, so that learners apply their mathematical knowledge and develop a holistic understanding of the subject.
This science curriculum covers four content areas: scientific enquiry, biology, chemistry and physics. Scientific enquiry is about considering ideas, evaluating evidence, planning investigative work, and recording and analysing data. Biology, chemistry and physics are studied separately to develop confidence and interest in the appropriate areas required for his or her career choice. Environmental awareness and some history of science are also part of the curriculum.
I C T [Information Communication Technology]
The ICT syllabus encourages learners to develop lifelong skills useful in their work across the curriculum and prepare them for future employment. They will develop an understanding of the social, economic and ethical implications of technology in society. The learning process combines theoretical and practical studies focusing on the ability to use common software applications. Learners evaluate and use ICT systems like word processors, spreadsheets, databases, interactive software, web browsers and website design.
The Cambridge Business Studies syllabus develops learners’ understanding of business activity in the public and private sectors with focus on the importance of innovation and change. Learners find out how the major types of business organisations are established, operated and how these activities are regulated. Factors influencing business decisions are considered. Learners study business concepts and techniques to enhance business related skills and the essential values of cooperation and interdependence.
Cambridge Global Perspectives
Cambridge Global Perspectives develops the skills of research, analysis, evaluation, reflection, collaboration and communication. It strengthens the links across English, Mathematics, Sciences and ICT. The subject is taught through a wide range of topics on a personal, local and global perspective made up of a series of challenges. Students start to develop and practise their cross-curricular skills at an earlier age for a greater impact on their learning abilities that will support them in their studies as they progress to Cambridge Upper Secondary and beyond.
Cambridge Chinese [Mandarin] is designed for learners with a working knowledge of the language and want to progress in their education or career using their language skills. Learners achieve an understanding of the registers and styles to communicate appropriately in different situations. The syllabus offers an insight into the culture and civilisation of countries where Mandarin Chinese is spoken thus encouraging a positive appreciation.
Cambridge Tamil is designed for learners who already have a working knowledge and want to consolidate their understanding of the language to progress in their academic or professional careers. Learners will gain an understanding of how to use Tamil effectively in various situations and environments they may encounter in their daily lives. The aim is to enable learners to achieve greater fluency, accuracy and confidence in the spoken and written language.
Cambridge IGCSE is a popular international qualification recognised by universities and employers worldwide. The flexibility, recognition and extensive support of the Cambridge IGCSE Programme is maximised at EDU Dynamics Academy.
